A Story of Inspiration and Rebellion Coming Out of Amsterdam, NY
More government overreach and idle threats of being arrested, all because of a "Vote for Trump" sign that sits on private property.
Big government tyranny has always been a precursor to rebellion. Everyone, regardless of which side of the isle you sit, know full well that as government grows, freedom shrinks. Those on the left love big government, because it makes them feel powerful. Many of those who are subjected to such tyranny end up folding to the whims of big government bureaucrats out of fear.
But within the population, there are the others. Who are the others? They are the ones who will not be ruled by such thuggery, and it appears that one such person has reared his head in the sleepy town of Amsterdam, New York.
In the early 90s, I used to drive through that rotting, corpse of a town at least twice a year, on my way to Glens Falls New York. There really was nothing going on in the way of any sustainable industry. To say it was idle is an understatement…it really looked like the same small-town decay that we have all seen across this country. The decay that has been caused by decades of the United States losing manufacturing to foreign nations, while the political class does nothing to protect their own country from it.
Anthony Constantino is the CEO of Sticker Mule, a very successful printing company located in Amsterdam. Since 2010, Sticker Mule and its CEO have helped to revitalize Amsterdam by bringing manufacturing back to a town that has been asleep since the 1980s, when Fownes Brothers and Company, a glove manufacturer moved its operations to China.
Constantino’s hard work and dedication is changing the landscape of this ghost town for the better. Industry is coming back to Amsterdam, and with it, jobs are coming back to Amsterdam. To put it plainly, hope is coming back to Amsterdam. To celebrate this resurgence of industry in Upstate New York, Constantino has spent nearly $150,000 on a 100’ “Vote for Trump” sign that sits on top of the tallest building in town and can be seen from the New York State Thruway.
The problem with the sign, is that the political class who actually “run” the town don’t like it. They claim it’s because it goes against town ordinance and causes safety issues for drivers on the Thruway as well as local traffic. I’ll bet, if we were to look into the political background of all those town politicians, you would find that they donate to democrats and vote for democrats. I’d also be willing to bet that none of them would have a problem with it if the sign said, “Vote for Harris.”
The town has now sued Constantino, and a New York State judge has granted the town an injunction, demanding that the Sticker Mule CEO show up in court this Tuesday and explain why a temporary restraining order should not be granted.
There is a sign lighting ceremony scheduled for Monday, October 7th at 6pm, which the town has demanded not take place. They are also threatening Constantino with arrest if their demands are not met.
This country was created by rebels who refused to be ruled, intimidated or subjected to tyranny by a bunch of government thugs who have chosen to far exceed the powers, written into our Constitution and granted to them by the people.
I can only hope that Mr. Constantino continues to be the rebel in this story. I hope he lights that sign up tomorrow night for all to see, including the tyrants trying to silence him!
