Does Trump Really Need Twitter, or Does Twitter Really Need Trump?

I am a Trump supporter, but I hope he stays away from Twitter. It will add to his mystique.

Elon Musk, the new owner, and self described, free speech absolutist, has polled the Twitter-verse and the twits have spoken…’let Trump back on.’ Now, the left is having a complete meltdown, because they realize they are going to have to up their game and start debating ideas, instead of demanding censorship of their largest political foe, Donald J Trump! The left's overlords, who trampled free speech on behalf of their liberal government leaders have exited the building,(actually they were kicked out) and a new sheriff is running Twitter-Town!

But here's a thought…if Musk is a “free speech absolutist,” why poll anyone…why not just let Trump back on? If the poll had gotten more “nays” than “yeas,” would he still unlock Trump's account? It's like allowing people to vote on the 1st Amendment right to free speech; ‘yes, we will let this group speak, but we took a vote on this other group and they need to shut up because they lost the vote!’ So much for being a “free speech absolutist.”

All of this only happens if Trump decides to take Musk up on his offer to come back. In the past, Trump has already declared he would not come back to Twitter, regardless, and my hope, is that Trump sticks to this declaration and stays with Truth Social….here's why. It has been almost 2 years since Trump was banned, and the left still can't stop talking about him. He spends more time on that platform than anyone else, merely because EVERYONE is fixated on him. And whether the posts are good or bad is irrelevant…it is exposure. The stories make his haters hate him more and his supporters love him more. It has turned him into a political behemouth, that lives rent free in everyone's mind. In my opinion, Trump staying off Twitter would add a certain mystique to his brand, and the left would be infuriated by it just for the simple fact that he is ignoring them like a red-headed step child. I mean no disrespect to red-heads or step children in any way.

Musk on the other hand needs the Trump brand on Twitter. Since taking over as the new sheriff, Twitter lefties are pissed! Many have decided to leave Twitter and even though many do leave, they are usually back within a few hours because they have no life without social media and nowhere else to go. Just ask AOC. But Jack Dorsey, the ex-CEO of Twitter has a new SM platform launching called Bluesky Social, and most of those Twitter lefties would be more than willing to move over there so they can demand censorship and shadowbanning of their political opponents, just like the old days on Twitter. If those people abandon Twitter, Musk will be left with a shell of a company…all the infrastructure and nothing to fill it with. Trump coming back to Twitter would help mitigate potential losses and keep people on the platform. And let's be honest, even though the left hates Trump, they need him more than he needs them…something they will never admit to.
