NY Governor Kathy is All of a Sudden, Concerned with Your Economic Outlook
She wants to somehow put money back in your pocket and also offer "free" community college tuition.
Hochul has come out with some really expensive ideas that are geared towards taking money from Peter to pay Paul and his entire family. One of them is “free” community college tuition.
We can reshape the future for thousands of New Yorkers and create a pipeline of skilled workers for our businesses. How? We make community college free for adult learners entering high demand careers. Let's get it done.
New York Governor
Kathy Hochul
This whole, free college tuition idea is as worn out as the idea of politicians offering free stuff to increase poll numbers or garner more votes. Everyone, including Hochul knows that free college tuition is NOT free. It amounts to more taxes and more government expenditures that New York residents can no longer afford, especially considering the fact that we just spent the last 4 years paying for her illegal immigration policies. From the professors to the janitors, paychecks will still be generated at the colleges, and I am pretty sure a pay cut or a demotion down to charity worker is not going to go over well with those people.
Recently, she went on the Crooked Media podcast and did a whole lot more blathering about how she is going to put $5k back in the pockets of New Yorkers.
I am working on affordability. I have found a path to put up to $5k back in New Yorker’s pockets, in my budget, a $1000 tax credit for little kids. A middle class tax cut. Making sure we can give an inflation rebate, because we collected a lot of money in sales tax. I’m giving it back to New Yorkers.
New York Governor
Kathy Hochul
I am not one who likes to give advice to liberal politicians, but I will make an exception in this case, because I live in New York State and could definitely benefit from my own advice, if Hochul decides to take it. I know, it’s a BIG if.
I will start out by telling you a true story about a friend who left New York State in 2013 and moved to Tennessee. They purchased a home for around $150k and with the real estate market having taken off, it is now worth around $250k. They are paying a little over $1000/year in property taxes for their home. In addition to this, the state of Tennessee has no income tax. As a New York resident, I know that a $250k home in this state will cost you over $10k/year in property taxes at a minimum.
Imagine the turnaround that New York State would see if property taxes were lowered by even 50%. Hochul wouldn’t have to “find a path” to put up to $5k back in New Yorker’s pockets. This would be a huge, permanent tax cut that would not involve just the middle class, but all classes of people who own homes.
After that, an income tax cut should also be implemented for everyone who pays into the system and a drop in sales taxes by 50% as well.
All of this would cause several, earth shaking events in New York.
People would stop leaving for Tennessee and other states who don’t rake their citizens over the coals with exorbitant tax rates.
The state would see a massive influx of new citizens, instead of the current decrease, as the burden of living here to support the government would be lowered significantly, allowing those people to finally support their families and maybe even make community college more affordable.
Implementation of such drastic changes in tax policies would go a long way toward making Kathy Hochul a more favorable governor to many Upstate and Western New York citizens, who really detest her at this point.
Even with the decrease in tax costs, tax revenue would increase as the population grows. New homes would be built, more property taxes would be paid, and Kathy Hochul would look like a hero…sort of.
New York is a beautiful state. Unfortunately, beauty doesn’t pay the bills, unless you win a beauty pageant or you’re a high-end model.
